Remodelling of the School Workforce

In conjunction with the National Agreement, government, employers and school workforce unions have been working towards the creation of a culture where by teachers and support staff can work more effectively in professional teams.  Specific emphasis has been placed on the continuing professional development of support staff to enable them to help in the delivery of the remodelling agenda.

With this in mind, the LEA have recently evaluated some support staff roles for teaching assistants based on job descriptions from the Joint National Council. These have been listed below to provide you with an overview of the range of skills sets for the roles of Teaching Assistants.

It is hoped that they will provide you with an insight in to the development opportunities that may be available to you.

Please note these job descriptions and person specifications are indicative examples of roles, responsibilities and gradings, they are not comprehensive. It is anticipated that a range of new job roles will be created which best suit the need of the children and schools in which staff are employed.
